Ornitina y arginina en el tratamiento de las tallas bajas

Se valora la respuesta terapéutica de 59 niños con tallas bajas a dos agentes farmacológicos: ornitina (47) y arginina (12) durante 6-12 meses. Encontramos un aumento significativo de la talla y de la velocidad de crecimiento en la utilización de ornitina en los niños con retraso constitucional del crecimiento y de la pubertad sin la aparición de efectos secundarios, aunque este efecto no se mantiene al año de tratamiento. No encontramos respuesta en las tallas bajas familiares ni tampoco con el uso de arginina. Abstract We are considering the therapeutical response of 59 short stature children to two pharmacological agents: ornithine and arginine during 6-12 months. We found a significative increase in the stature and in the velocity of growth in the use of ornithine in children with constitutional delay of growth and puberty without the appearance of side effects, althorgh this result could not be maintained after the first year of treatment. We could not find a response in family short statures nor in the use of arginine.
